It is easy to fall in love with this beautiful part of England, and that's what happened in 1989 when Andy moved up from Horley Surrey South England to do a bit of climbing: he fell in love with Keswick, the fells and the lifestyle. Now many years later, a lot of climbing, a lot of walking, and a lot of just enjoying this beautiful scenery that all year around still take's our breath away, it is safe to say that we have well and truly settled in the lovely market town of Keswick.
When Andy took this place over all those years ago, the hotel was in need of a lot of attention, and a lot of attention it has had!
Many renovations, and many builders later, the outside of our traditional Victorian building still has this quintessential "Englishness," whereas the inside is a mix of contemporary Scandinavian style with the English classics.
The rooms all have clean white lines, against the cosines of "pure" materials, such as Herdwick sheep carpet and handcrafted wooden furniture, and traditional crafted lighting from the British Lighting Company.
In the breakfast room the Scandinavian "whiteness", makes an eclectic yet harmonic style, set against classics such as Phillip Starck's "three classics in one" chairs, and Royal Dalton hand painted flower crockery.
When Andy started his Keswick adventure, it was only him, but in 2005 Charlotte came from Denmark, also just for a short holiday, but the holiday was extended, Charlotte moved in, a wedding was held, our daughter Kate was born, and now the newest addition to the family is Shy the dog.
